Conclusions

A 4 tons prototype of the NOE SCIFI calorimeter has been exposed to the CERN PS T7 beam. The calorimeter resolution for e.m. and hadronic showers uncorrected (corrected) was measured to be $\sqrt{2}20.0\% / \sqrt{E} + 1\%$ and $\sqrt{2}43.3\% (37.4\%) / \sqrt{E} + 1.5\%$ respectively. Linearity and other relevant calorimetric characteristics have been tested: results are satisfactory and in good agreement with the Monte Carlo, predicting an hadronic energy resolution of $43.3\% (37.4\%) / \sqrt{E} + 1.5\%$ for the fully instrumented calorimeter.
