Abstract

The result of a search for gravitational-wave bursts, using the data collected in the year 2001 by the cryogenic bar detectors EXPLORER and NAUTILUS, is reported. A coincidence excess was found when the detectors were favorably oriented with respect to the galactic disk. Compatibility of the amplitudes and rate of the candidate events with cherished beliefs about the structure of the Universe and the physical laws governing gravitational radiation is discussed.
